Reasons why you may not be able to find your citation online

You just received your citation

Your citation will not be viewable online until we receive your citation from the Sheriff’s Office.  Check online 10 days prior to the court date on your citation.

You were in an accident

Any citation that involves an accident will not be approved to pay until the Solicitor’s Office reviews the citation. After approved to pay, you will be able to find it online. Check the website 10 days before the court date on your citation.

You are entering the Sheriff’s Office case number instead of the court’s case number

Do not search by case number unless you have received something from the court with a case number on it. Your citation cannot be found by the Sheriff’s Office case number. There is an option to search by citation number or defendant name.

Your citation is a Juvenile citation

If the defendant is 16 or younger, the Clerk’s Office will not be handling your citation. Juvenile Court will handle those citations. Give them a call at 770-781-3099 with any questions.

Notice of Civil Filing Fee Increase

To: Attorneys at Law and All Other Filers

From: Greg G. Allen, Clerk of Superior and State Courts

Date: May 10, 2016

Re: Increase in Filing Fee for Superior Court Civil Actions

The Georgia General Assembly enacted this year Act Number 458 (legislated as HB 851) which amends provisions relating to county law libraries. The bill eliminated a previously long-standing provision that required clerks of superior court to deduct the amount payable to the county law library from the filing fee for a civil action and, therefore, upon the effective date of the act the filing fee for a superior court civil action increases by $5.00 (the amount determined by superior court judges to be collected for the local library).

The act became effective upon the governor’s signature. Governor Deal signed the act into law on April 26, 2016. However, since there was no time to apprise parties filing civil actions of the increase in fee, and this office had to change the programming of our case management system to correctly assess the fee, I will not begin enforcing the provision until June 1, 2016, at which time the filing fee for a civil action in the Superior Court of Forsyth County will be $217.00 (which amount includes the additional $5.00 law library fee). Also, increased by this bill is the fee for notary public, which will now be $42.00, trade names will be $162.00, and limited partnerships will be $217.00.
